Attention Shoppers, are you ready for another time management game?
Well, ready or not, here’s another one for you called “Supermarket Management”.
But this time you aren’t running a restaurant, this one is set in a supermarket, where you race around stocking shelves, pushing carts, and weighing produce.
Can You Manage A Mini-Costco?
You play Kate, a recent college graduate who can’t find a job in her field , takes a job at Bob Bossovich’s Supermarket to make ends meet. But, she is a very creative girl devoted to her work, every several days she has some new ideas about improving the efficiency and services in the store.
Like real life you begin as a lowly store employee. The working day starts with a set of tasks to complete. First, move shopping carts from the checkout to the entrance of the shop for the customers. The customers won't shop without the carts.
But, Kate is s a very creative girl devoted to her work, so every few days she has some new ideas (don’t you just hate a goody-goody!)
Now you’ll have to make sure the counters are always full of munchies. Click them to replenish the shelves with fresh vegetables, tasty cakes and more. Is everything ready for the opening?
Well, let’s start selling!
Where’s The Beef?
The gameplay here is very much like that of any other time management game. You race around in order to complete a bunch of tasks it takes to run a supermarket.
Both the controls and the game play work the way you’d expect them to in a RTS game , nothing more, nothing less.
In this case, those tasks are that of a one (wo)man supermarket. You complete all the jobs (at least at first) alone, and race around to satisfy all of your customers. These tasks range from pushing shopping carts to restocking shelves to making cakes and weighing deli meats and cheeses.
By tapping on areas where tasks need to completed, Kate goes to the area and does the job. Sometimes tasks require Kate to perform a skill of some sort, like building appetizers or selecting the right cake as it scrolls by. Scoring is based on how happy the customers are when they check out – the happier they are, the more money and credit coins are earned.
At checkout most of us are probably familiar with the cashier asking us, "Did you find everything all right?" (even though we all know she could give 2 hoots!)
Attention Shoppers!
It is true that customers can't always find what they need, even when it’s right in front of their face. So they stand there with a thought bubble showing their need. You’ll need to drop 'n drag them to the right shelf.
“Supermarket Management” also puts you on the other side of the store: management (hence the name!)It kinda makes you think this has turned into a "tycoon" type of game doesn't it? Nah, don't worry it just means you help customers find what they need and resolve any gripes they may have.
While I liked “Supermarket Management” and found nothing bad about it per se. There’s was just nothing new and exciting about it either.
So if you’re looking for something fresh here, then you might get better service elsewhere, and not worth adding to your grocery basket of time management games.
