 Zombieland
Living in a world surrounded by vampires seems to be hip and cool these days (think “Twilight”) but ironically living in a world surrounded by zombies …well… not so much! But thanks to the new movie “Zombieland”, it is!
And just when you thought it was safe to go back to your favorite shopping mall, or abandoned gas station!

But wait -there are few rules for surviving in land full of zombies.
The list goes down to about #33, so I will only name the beginning few and of course the ones that were my favorite:

Rule #1: Cardio- unfortunately the “physically” challenged (unfit) do not survive.
Rule#2: Beware of Bathrooms- apparently zombies like to attack you when you are most vulnerable so it’s probably best to hold it in.
Rule#3: Double Tap- YES! This is my favorite; you always want to make sure that that zombie is dead. So before walking away give them a second headshot just to be sure.

Now on to our story-we first meet a neurotic, geeky college student who goes by the name Columbus of the city he's heading to (played by my new fave Jesse Eisenberg).

The movie revolves around four main characters; Tallahassee (as in Florida played by the yummy Woody Harrelson!), Columbus (as in Ohio), and 2 sisters Wichita and Little Rock, who wind up working as a team to find a place where the “infection” hasn’t spread.
The 2 sisters are headed to a factious California amusement park that is supposedly zombie free.
Hmm, now let’s get this straight, the whole town is riddled with the undead but this particular amusement park is zombie free! I highly doubt that- but whatever.

SideNote: It's best not to think too much about the logistics of things, like the fact that carnival rides don't move by themselves, they’re gonna need an operator.

The end of the movie (don’t worry-no spoilers here) takes place at an amusement park with the ultimate showdown. It was so action packed; all I kept thinking was “Zombieland- the Videogame”!

When does a zombie movie become more than a zombie movie? When it's not just about the zombies, of course.

"Zombieland" is a romance, a comedy, a buddy movie and a horrorfest, all in one. Like the movie “Shaun of the Dead”,” Zombieland” takes a funny look at the zombie genre.
Although the zombie presence always exists in the background, it’s actually more of a comedy than horror movie.
For example; all Tallahassee (Harrelson) dreams about is finding a fresh Twinkie ("Which, contrary to popular belief, do have an expiration date").
SideNote: Woody Harrelson was so great in this movie as the trash-talkin', gun-totin' Twinkie-lovin' zombie killer. I said it leaving the theater and I said it many, many times afterward- he really needs to act more!

Don’t get me wrong however, there are some scenes involving some revolting blood-oozing zombies (don’t worry it’s disgusting but not too disgusting.)

This movie had me either laughing till I almost cried or covering my eyes from the gruesome (once again- worth mentioning- not Mtoo gruesome) bone crushing moments. Based on all the buzz I’ve been hearing, I can almost guarantee “Zombieland” having some kind of cult following.

Now "nut up or shut up"!

Rated: R

Zombieland Trivia:

- Production only took 42 days.
- Shipped to theaters under the code name "Point of Origin".

- Director Ruben Fleischer stated that he was inspired to make this by “Shaun of the Dead” (2004) another zombie comedy.

- Was originally going to be the pilot of a television series, which explains why none of the main characters die.

- The amusement park scenes were filmed at Wild Adventures Theme Park, located in Valdosta, Ga. There was an open call for locals to play extras for most of the scenes shot at Wild Adventures.

-Jesse Eisenberg's character Columbus has a phobia about clowns. His real life mother worked as a party clown.
